Panorama brasileiro de produções acadêmicas acerca da agroecologia e segurança alimentar

Abstract

Society has faced a worrying food crisis, in which the population is suffering from food insecurity, thus needing alternative production systems. In view of this, agroecology has shown great potential, allowing more sustainable, fair and inclusive food systems, thus contributing to improve food security. Therefore, this article aims to analyze national academic productions published in the form of master's dissertations and doctoral theses that approached the relationship between agroecology and food security. For this, a survey of Brazilian dissertations and theses that approached the relationship between agroecology and food security was carried out in the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD), in July 2022. It was found, in general, that the number of Brazilian dissertations and theses has increased over the years, demonstrating an advance in interest in scientific research that approach about agroecology and food security. The results obtained in this research showed that there is a relationship between agroecology and food security, in which agroecology enables safer, healthier and more sustainable foods. The results found evidenced the positive contributions of agroecology to improve food security, highlighting agroecology as a viable alternative to the current production model.
