This article aims to present the essential aspects of Jürgen Habermas' critical theory, such as the concept of communicative reason, the linguistic turn, thus constituting the fundamental aspects of the German philosopher's critical theory. It starts from a new understanding of reason, differentiating itself from the first generation of critical theory, which diagnosed the end of the modern project and enlightenment. For Habermas, however, it is not a matter of declaring the end of the modern project, but of rethinking it based on communicative reason and on the structures of intersubjectivity and the world of life. Pragmatics is, then, the essential theoretical event that characterizes Habermas' communicative reason and his model of critical theory.
